Took two months, but I finally got fed up and had to finish it.
Came out pretty good! The 22 year old decals were a pain in the ass, but overall it came out nicely.
I ended up ordering a period correct supplementary decal set for the contingencies. The decals that came with it were pretty lax in that area.
All I have left to do is get out there and hit the pace car...

The decals are always the worst part.

I'm gonna give you an engine low to the ground... extra thick oil pan to cut the wind from underneath you. It'll give you thirty or forty more horsepower. I'm gonna give you a fuel line that'll hold an extra gallon of gas. I'm gonna shave half an inch off you and shape you like a bullet. I'll get you primed, painted and weighed, and you'll be ready to go out on that racetrack. Hear me? You're gonna be perfect.

Great job! It came out very nicely. I agree with FJ80waitinforacummins, the decals are always the worst part. I always split one or two...

They're typically not this bad. The 22 year old brittle decals that came from a smokers home weren't too fun to deal with.

Yeah these were pretty brittle after 22 years and the paper backing didn't hold up well to the water. Had to deal with it softening up a little too much. I'm pleased with the outcome though! I've always wanted a scale replica cast since it's my favorite movie. My next project is the Exxon 51 that will have to be built from a donor kit and a custom decal set. It was always the sexiest car in the movie to me.

For around $20 it's not going to be too bad!

Awesome man!! I want to build on that scale. I've heard that they are pretty damn detailed.

The detail is pretty impressive. Especially on the engine and interior bits. I usually do ships which also have quite a bit of detail so I decided a large scale car would be pretty similar.

Make sure you kick the door. Don't leave a side that doesn't need to be fixed.

Yeah, we cant have Buck Brotherton getting spoiled or he might not change his name to Cal Naughton Jr. and become the greatest teammate in Nascar History.

My next race car will have exhaust like that... except they'll exit on the passenger side so they're not cooking my ass.

That's where they exit on the car I designed! What kind of cars do you race?

Right now a Porsche 944, but I'll be selling it soon and building a time attack/track day car. Leaning towards LS-powered S-chassis, but I'll first focus on building a motor, then find a good chassis to put it in. Might make things easier and go with a C5 Z06.

Hell yeah man! That's gonna be sweet! You can get some pretty awesome power out of those Chevy engines. Can't wait to see this come to fruition. If you need a livery you know where to go ;) luecreative.com

I'm actually a designer as well, so I'll probably do it myself, but I checked out your site and dig your work!
I didn't know that you did the Jalop/Blipshift shirt. Very cool.

Awesome buddy! Glad to know we've got a few Car Guy designers on here. I get picked on in my program because I'm the only one.
Thanks, it means a lot and yeah I did. I'm doing the Skippy School on the 18th and I can't wait!
